Not only did I upload half a year’s worth of sketches (an embarrassingly small amount), but I started a new webcomic and completely revamped the site. There are a few tweaks left to do, so please be patient as everything is reconfigured.

Hopefully the new BS comic won’t be a short-lived inspiration. The comic is based off my life and friends, a topic of which I hope is interesting, for your and my sake. I think I’ve worked out a good style for the comic–something very fitting for me. Loose and sketchy, everything freehand (no straight edges anywhere!).

I got another 72 set of Copic Markers. Brand new for only $250. That’s less than four bucks a marker! What. Now. They had a spin the wheel thing at Dick Blick, and the counter lady let me spin it until I got 40% off (plus two t-shirts from previous spins). So now I have Set A and Set C for the 72 Sketch sets, along with 13 or so markers I picked up individually.

In other news my laptop’s graphics card died, which is going to be an expensive repair. :(

The bark on the trees on the far right is magnificent, as are the colors for the griffin, let along it’s structure. Something I learned at the Ringling school was that when you’re sketching or whatever, always throw in a horizon line, even if it just that – it ground the figures and makes any interaction easier to spot. And don’t fret about not being able to throw out great backgrounds: The tree picture is an example of your ability to make a background, so I know it can be done by you. Keep it up!
